When the family first opens the box to reveal AIA, the trailer says, “Hello, world.” This is a reference to the first program most people write when learning to code or starting out in a new programming language. It is one of the most basic programs a person can write, and serves not only as a first step for newcomers, but also as confirmation that the development environment is set up correctly. In the kitchen, Maud visibly disconnects AIA, but seconds later, when she tells AIA to turn on the lights, AIA is somehow wired again and obeys… There is a short scene in the end credits..

I Love You Written by Chris Weitz and Alex Weston Starring Alex Weston. I agree, the AIA isn’t here yet, but I’ve been in tech for over 40 years. Y2K never concerned me. It gives me chills because of my grandchildren.
Does this movie make fun of that fact?
At some point in your life, this will be a reality. Looking past the cheap hopping and bashing of Alexa/Siri, I think it does a decent job. It ties into the reality that people are naive and technology is advancing faster than ever and accelerating exponentially. If you can get past the little slow motion and it’s a pretty fast movie, the last 20 minutes are worth the wait.
And the ending is unsettling enough to make the sequel something to think about
