Scenario
England, 1875
A century after Victor Frankenstein’s doomed experiment, his diaries have been changing hands for decades. William and Liza mention Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson – although the film is set in 1875, 12 years before the first Holmes story was published, this could be a joking reference suggesting that Holmes and Watson are real people.
A woman takes Dr
This is a sequel to Frankenstein??. Frankenstein’s diary and recreates his experiment on her husband to cure him 100 years after the original Frankenstein monster. This diary has been sought by many, but a secret group is trying to find it and destroy it forever as it goes against nature and God.
It looks quite interesting and the overall concept is solid
The costumes and sets are quite believable for the time, around the late 19th century. The dialogue is a little stiff, but since it’s a stage show, I’m sure that’s both down to the script and the actors’ poor way of delivering the lines and trying to sound authentic to the time. There are some decent, experienced actors here, but I never felt like they properly embraced the ideology or the era.
She appears later in the film in a limited role
Phillip Martin Brown does a good job here, but not enough to carry the film. The way it was filmed also gave it an authentic feel, resembling a higher picture quality version of a 90s TV movie. I saw it to see Michelle Ryan, who I liked in Eastenders, and she went on to film Bionic Woman, and then her career failed.
There were a few moments where I laughed while watching at some of the bad dialogue, poor delivery, or exaggerated facial expressions
Honestly I’d skip it even if you had Prime unless you’re a huge Frankenstein fan, but then you might hate it even more. 4/10.
